Interview: Shawn Kross

"Q & A INTERVIEWS"

My guest is Shawn Kross
Thanks for taking the time to do this Interview for Alabama Wrestling!!!

Joe Slaten: How did you get started in the business? Plus who trained you and how long have you been Pro?

Shawn Kross: I started very young. When I was 15 actually, not many people can say they got their start that early. I am very lucky to be able to have gotten into the business when I did and I owe it to three men. Jeremy and Jake Kennedy and Bryant Guynn, The Kennedy brothers have been all over and run strictlywrestling.com a good source for Florida Indy's, which they relayed me to Promoter of SWA Bryant Guynn who also owned Academy of Professional Wrestling down here in Florida. I was given a tryout at the school being so young they wanted to see If I could handle it.. 10 superplexes and 200 bumps later, they realized I was in this sport for the love. I was trained by three guys who are very underated around Florida. Florida Superstar Von Tankard, Scott Hotshot, and a good friend Anarchy. Also with guidance from former WCW superstar Chris Sullivan. I have been pro for almost 1 year now.

Slaten: What are some of your most memorbile matches?

Kross: Well to be honest I have really enjoyed wrestling my trainer "Sensational" Scott Hotshot. He's a nice guy, alot of people think he has an ego problem but he has taught me alot and I really like working with him.

Slaten: Who was your toughest opponent?

Kross: Again it would have to be Scott Hotshot, my trainer.

Slaten: Where all have you wrestled?

Kross: Mostly I have stuck to the promotion that made me, SWA, and still being very young many promotions will not book my age. However I have worked for other promotions such as Power Pro Wrestling and Pro American Wrestling Alliance.

Slaten: Have you wrestled under any other names?

Kross: Nope, Just Shawn Kross... "Sexy" Shawn Kross if you will..

Slaten: What are your thoughts on Pro Wrestling today compared to the Kayfabe period of the 80's?

Kross: Internet has played the key factor in the smart fans of today. Of course dirt sheets exsisted but now they are everywhere, even though everything was Kayfabed in the 80's, I feel that there are still plenty of mark wrestling fans and even those who are not can sit down and enjoy Pro Wrestling without getting involved in the polotics.

Slaten: Who are your influences?

Kross: Well, growing up I think I shared the same feeling as Hulk Hogan was my hero. Him and Jake the Snake Roberts along with Undertaker were my favorites. I also loved to watch Sting and Vader, But I could go on and on with some of the greatest matches in the past, but now that I am in the business guys like Jeff Hardy, and most importantly one of the guys I really look up to and idolize as he has broken the mold and made it big as a very small worker ECW's Tony Mamaluke.

Slaten: If you had the choice where would you go ECW, WCW, or WWF?

Kross: This is a difficult choice to make, I know with all the success right now with WWF it would seem the simple choice. But I have always been a deep WCW fan and I would have to say World Championship Wrestling.

Slaten: How can Promoters or Fans get in touch with you?

Kross: They can visit my official website at ShawnKross.8m.com And can eMail me at SexyShawnKross@aol.com

Slaten: Last but not least what is in the future for Shawn Kross?

Kross: For now Im going to continue to pay my dues here in the Indy's and get my education and hopefully in about 4-5 years I will be in one of the big three!
